Peter Aiken, an acknowledged Data Management (DM) authority, is an Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, past President DAMA International, and Associate Director of the MIT International Society of Chief Data Officers.

For more than 35 years, Peter has learned from working with hundreds of data management practices in 30 countries including some of the world's most important.

Among his 10 books are the first on CDOs (the case for data leadership), the first describing the monetization data for profit/good, and the first on modern strategic data thinking.

International recognition has resulted in an intensive schedule of events worldwide. Peter also hosts the longest running DM webinar series (hosted by dataversity.net).

Frank Kadwell, PhD, is data management specialist with over twenty years of experience in the IT industry.  Frank has been in data management for approximately twenty years.  Frank is Co-Founder of D3 Information Services, a small boutique consulting firm in the US and specifically Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Frank and D3 assist companies with many data management challenges including strategy, architecture, and development.  Frank has consulted in many verticals including financial services, retail, manufacturing, and health care.  In addition, Frank has been on the Minnesota DAMA chapter board for three years.  Frank is involved with local data meetups and academic organizations.  Frank earned his PhD in 2019.  Feel free to reach out to Frank on LinkedIn at https://www.linkedin.com/in/frank-kadwell-phd-9095aa3/.

Michel is an IT professional with more than 40 years of experience, mostly in business software development. He has been involved in multiple data modeling and data interoperability activities. Over the last 7 years, as an independent consultant, he worked on data quality initiatives, metadata management, data modeling as well as data governance implementation projects. He has a master’s degree in software engineering, member of DAMA International since 2017, and is certified CDMP (master) since 2019. He currently consults on a large application development project as lead data management/modeling, teaches introduction to data governance, data quality, and data security at Université de Sherbrooke and translates books on data governance and management.

James (Jim) has been an active board member of our Chicago chapter for the past 4 years. He is motivated to improve our chapter and has contributed many ideas toward that goal. The past few COVID years have been challenging to keep a chapter active and moving forward. Jim has been instrumental in that effort. He works collaboratively with other board members, communicates with respect for others, and diligently attends all of our board meetings. I believe his approach and demeanor will be beneficial as he interfaces with global chapters.

Marilu is co-founder and data management consultant in SEGDA, a firm focused on helping organizations define their Data Strategies and implement their Data Management Operating Models. She´s co-founder, and past president of the DAMA Mexico Chapter; former DAMA Regional Coordinator for Latin America; former   Presidents' Council Chairperson, and currently DAMA Chapter Services VP.  She worked for 32 years in the financial sector with one of the leading banks in Mexico, dedicating more than 15 years to Data Management practices. Marilu holds a CDMP   Master level, specialized in Data Governance and Data Quality, and a CIMP (Certified Information Management Professional) in Data Governance, Data Quality, and Information Management issued by eLearning Curve. She is also a TOGAF-certified professional, by The Open Group.

She is an enthusiastic speaker at international conferences, highlighting her participation in events such as EDW and DGIQ.

Dawn has been involved with DAMA International for many years, primarily at the local chapter level, as DAMA-MN President, multiple times since the 1990s, and consequently is a lifetime member. She was a past DAMA International Chapter Services VP.  Recently, she also served as PC Committee Chair for the QSG - Quick Start Guide, a reference for new and restoring chapters. 

• Her key goals in this position for the next two years are to encourage collaboration among the presidents of existing chapters as well as new ones.  To share and leverage the experiences we have had around the world.  It is also important to continue to help the multitude of chapters remain or grow stronger, broadening the DAMA International Chapter member’s base.

Dawn is passionate about Data Management and holds her CDMP. She has been a professional in her field for 30 years.  Her current employment is as a Sr. Enterprise Data Architect in the Title Insurance industry. She has spoken at over 20 EDW or DAMA I events and served as university adjunct faculty teaching data courses, sharing her knowledge and practical experiences. Dawn is an advocate for collaboration, sharing information among professionals and strengthening Data Management practice worldwide.

Ekkehard is co-founder of the German Chapter and is still serving as its president.

Ekkehard started his career in data management over three decades ago as a database administrator. A strong focus on the business value of data characterized his work as a consultant for data integration, data warehousing and data quality at various telecommunications, insurance and financial companies. For more than ten years Ekkehard has now been working as a data governance evangelist and specialist.

Andrew has practiced in every facet of the IT industry. He has started and exited several technology businesses, and has a unique blend of skills and expertise that includes executive management, mobile app development, data warehousing, business intelligence, stakeholder engagement, ICT/Data governance, strategy and entrepreneurship. 

He has consulted extensively to Government, Not for Profit and Private sector clients across Australia and New Zealand.

In late 2018 Andrew pivoted from strategic advisory consulting to executive leadership in Data Governance Management. First role was as founder of the Data Governance program at Australian Government regulator Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (accc.gov.au) (the US equivalent is the Federal Trade Commission). 

In late 2019 he joined one of Australia’s Tier 1 international banks ANZ, as Data Governance Manager in their Group Risk division. One of his key responsibilities is operationalisation of ANZ Enterprise Data Governance framework including embedding of BCBS239 Risk Data Governance into the Group Risk Information Delivery team.

Andrew is committed to giving back to the community and is proud to have been invited to be a mentor of MBA students for the University of Adelaide since 2017 and more recently as a mentor of start-up entrepreneurs hosted by the University of Adelaide ThincLab incubator. 

In a volunteer capacity he has also since 1983, served on community governing boards of several not for profit community associations. He currently holds Life Memberships with the Hellenic Club of Canberra and with Fresh Broadcasters Incorporated, the license holder for Community Radio Station www.fresh927.com.au. Andrew is currently also on the management committee of the Foundation of Hellenic Studies in Adelaide. 

Andrew is presently Vice President of the Data Management Association of Australia, and advisor to the international Leader’s Data Organisation.

Andrew is leading a team of international speakers on a panel session on “The role of Empathy in delivery of Data Governance programs” at the 16th Annual CDOIQ Symposium at MIT Boston July 2022.

Loretta Mahon Smith is a visionary and influential data management professional known for her consistent awareness of developing industry trends.  Her extensive experience in strategic data management includes significant depth for the financial services industry.  Loretta is an executive with IBM Global Business Services, supporting clients in North America.  She is the Global Lead for the GBS Data Governance Center of Excellence.

Loretta has been a member of DAMA International for more than 20 years, with a lifetime membership to the DAMA National Capitol Region Chapter. As Past President of the chapter she has had the opportunity to help the Washington DC and Baltimore data management communities.    She has the world community by her involvement on the DAMA International Board as VP of Marketing and Communications.
